Tom Wolfe, New Journalism and William Goetzmann, American Historian of Exploration

In noting Wolfe’s death, I did not see the classmate connection at Yale and their drunkenly crazed rickshaw race, which was supposed to be an annual event but never turned out to be. While Wolfe’s first attempt at a dissertation was thrown into the trash; Goetzmann’s — once revised into American English, and he was a master of the language –won a Pulitzer.
