The Time Was Then — A Garden at ‘Bookman’s Paradise’

Three years ago wandering around Manhattan, scouting out pied a terres, we stumbled upon this unprepossessing place on Madison between 36th and 37th Streets.  The original owner, a guy named J.P. Morgan apparently loved books — especially Bibles and other ancient religious tracts.  But alas, the place lacked a garden, so we passed.

But now, alas. if  we’d known about what lay to the side and the other stuff the guy had hanging around the place — different story.
